Crucible of AgesTHE LUMINA FOUNDATION, CENTRE FOR INTELLECTUAL RENEWAL AND THE GLOBAL MEDIA ALLIANCE LAUNCHES CRUCIBLE OF THE AGES: ESSAYS IN HONOUR OF WOLE SOYINKA AT 80

There was a historic literary event in Accra, Ghana when the President of the country, John Mahama was joined by the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame to launch the book, Crucible of the Ages: Essays in Honour of Wole Soyinka at 80. The book edited by Ivor Agyeman-Duah and Ogochukwu Promise has a foreword by the former Commonwealth Secretary- General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku and contributions from 30 other distinguished individuals including three Nobel laureates- the late Nadine Gordimer, Toni Morrison and Derek Walcott as well as Ama Ata Aidoo, Ngugi wa Thiong' o, Kwame Anthony Appiah, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Abena Busia, Atukwei Okai, Sefi Atta . Others are Presidents John Mahama, Thabo Mbeki and the king of Asante, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
 
The event was attended by Professor Soyinka and Chief Anyaoku as well  as former  Ghanaian President, John Agyekum Kufuor and the wife of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Nana Konadu ,ministers of state, members of the diplomatic corps and many other distinguished individuals.
This follows the Oxford and London launches of the book.
